IELTS Academic Preparation
IELTS Academic is designed for individuals who plan to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies at universities where English is the language of instruction. It is also used for certain professional registration purposes.
The test assesses whether you have the English-language skills needed to study in an academic environment, understand complex information, communicate ideas clearly, and present arguments effectively.
Our IELTS Academic Preparation Course focuses on developing your academic English skills and familiarising you with the examination format, question types, and assessment criteria.
What Will You Learn?
Academic Listening
Develop the ability to understand lectures, educational discussions, and conversations in academic and university-related contexts. Learn to identify key points, recognise supporting details, follow explanations, and understand speakers’ opinions and attitudes.
You will practise completing notes, forms, tables, and summaries, as well as answering multiple-choice, matching, and other IELTS Listening questions.
Academic Reading
Improve your ability to understand complex texts and locate relevant information under time pressure. Work with texts on a variety of academic and general-interest subjects, similar to those used in the IELTS Academic Reading test.

- Understand paraphrased information.
- Identify relationships between ideas.
- Infer meaning from context.
- Manage the three reading passages within the time limit.
Academic Writing
Develop the writing skills needed to complete both IELTS Academic Writing tasks.
Task 1: Describing Visual Information
Learn how to describe and compare charts, graphs, tables, diagrams, and processes. Practise identifying key features, selecting relevant information, making comparisons, and writing clear, well-organised reports.
Task 2: Essay Writing
Learn how to respond effectively to different essay questions, including opinion essays, discussion essays, advantages and disadvantages essays, and problem-and-solution essays.
You will practise:
- Analysing the question and identifying the task requirements.
- Developing a clear position and relevant supporting ideas.
- Organising paragraphs logically.
- Using linking expressions appropriately.
- Developing a range of academic vocabulary.
- Improving grammatical range and accuracy.
You will also receive guidance on the IELTS Writing assessment criteria, including task achievement or task response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy.
Academic Speaking
Build the confidence to discuss familiar and unfamiliar topics clearly and fluently.
Practise all three parts of the IELTS Speaking test:
- Part 1: Answer questions about familiar topics, such as studies, work, interests, and daily life.
- Part 2: Prepare and deliver a longer individual talk using a cue card.
- Part 3: Discuss broader and more abstract questions related to the Part 2 topic.
