6A – Object pronouns
Subject vs object pronouns

We use object pronouns when the person or thing receives the action.
- She calls me every day.
- I love you.
- He doesn’t like it.
Object pronouns come after the verb.
✔ I know him.
✘ I know he.
Object pronouns after prepositions
We also use object pronouns after prepositions (with, to, for, from, etc.).
- I’m waiting for her.
- This present is for them.
- Please listen to me.
Subject pronouns (review)
We use subject pronouns when the person does the action.
Subject pronouns usually come before the verb.
- Emma is my neighbour. She lives next door.
- My parents are here. They arrived early.

6B – like + verb + -ing
Form:
After like, love, don’t mind, don’t like, hate, we use:
verb + –ing
- I love reading.
- She likes walking to work.
- They hate getting up early.
We can also use verb + –ing after enjoy and prefer.
- I enjoy watching films.
- I prefer working at home.
Spelling rules (verb + -ing)

6C – be or do?
be
We use be:
- as a main verb
- to form the present continuous
- She’s tired.
- I’m working now.
- Are you OK?
To make questions with be, put be before the subject.
- He’s from Brazil. → Is he from Brazil?
do / does
We use do / does:
- as a main verb
- as an auxiliary verb in the present simple
- I do my homework in the evening.
- Do you like coffee?
- She doesn’t work on Sundays.
Remember the word order: ASI
